Chasing Rainbow Dreams

Living Life to the Fullest: Finding Meaning in Every Moment

In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose - Roman 8:28

Once upon a time, in a small village, China, there lived a little girl with her family. Growing up in poverty where there was no milk, no bread and no meat – she even ate wild vegetables and tree leaves.

However she was rich in dreams. Dreaming is the driving force of her life; she lived each day with passion, hope and meaning. Dreams were her rainbows, she chased one dream followed another. The beauty of nature – twinkling stars, silvery moon light, radiant sunrise, flowers in seasons brought her many beautiful dreams.

Chasing Rainbow Dreams

As a little girl, she ever yearned for a floral shirt, especially during the New Year. She did not dare to ask for it because she knew my parents had no money. But that didn't stop her from dreaming. She would close her eyes and imagine wearing a finely crafted silk floral shirt. One summer, when she turned twelve, her father brought home a piece of silk fabric, and her mother turned it magically into a beautiful shirt. She was so excited when she put it on and run out to show off the shirt to her friends. She danced and danced in the yard – the winds were her music and the tree leaves clapped their hands. They all joined her in celebrating her new shirt.

One day, she heard about a country called America, a distant and beautiful land on the other side of the earth. She fantasized about traveling through a tunnel beneath the ground to touch the heels of a giant American on the opposite side.

As she grew older and learned about science, the mysteries of nature captivated her even more. She pondered the waxing and waning of the moon and the formation of day and night. Then she dreamed of becoming a scientist like Albert Einstein. Other times, she dreamed of becoming a doctor or a renowned author. However, life took her on a different path, leading her to study mathematics—a journey she had never envisioned.

At times, she felt that her dreams had shattered, but she still clung to hope. After college, she resurrected her childhood dream and came to America to pursue a master's degree in mathematics. Instead of tunneling through the earth as she once imagined, she flew to the country.

Now, about 27 years have passed since those early days. Life has been a rollercoaster, filled with both tremendous and challenging moments that have significantly shaped her character. In one revolutionary moment, her perspective on life shifted dramatically, transforming her into a person of faith. She discovered a belief in a higher power, a God who orchestrated everything in her life, including her dreams.

Though she had many dreams in childhood, she never dreamed to have chocolate because she did not know she did not have chocolate. This means her dreams were limited by her limitation. Believing in God removed her limitation. Now she can dream much nobler dreams.

In April 2014, with a calling to inspire others to live their lives to the fullest, she achieved another dream—publishing the book Grow to Your Fullest.

The journey was not easy, with many twists and turns, but each moment was intertwined so tightly into a bigger picture, enriching her life and giving it meaning. She realized that every experience worked together for her good, guided by a higher purpose according to the words from Romans 8:28 in the Bible, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

God has made everything beautiful in its own time and infused each moment with eternity.

The little girl is now a grown woman – that’s me.

Looking back, I realized the biggest problem is that most people are disconnected from their deepest inner longings, and the purpose of living; people are disconnected from their calling for a great cause when they are disconnected from the spring of life, God.

Often, they chase superficial, temporary happiness, seeking fame and material success, but end up losing the harmony of life - they are consumed by their success instead of consuming the success with true inner joy and peace.

I also realized that the rainbow dreams I once chased were all about truth, love, and beauty. And these values are the true path of living life to the fullest. With a calling from above, my mission now is to help people live out their best lives, fulfilling their potential and purpose, regardless of their background or current circumstances.

Today I am here because I got a dream to come to America when I was a little girl; I have been a data scientist for about 20 years because I dreamed of being a scientist; I became an author in 2014 also because I dreamed of being one.

Now I am starting my journey as an entrepreneur also because I dreamed of being one about 10 years ago. My journey of chasing rainbow dreams is continuing...
